Every so often, usually on weekends, I get a taste of the empty nesters life when all the kids have plans to go out with friends. When that happens, c and I try to enjoy our time together by trying out a new resto. We enjoy these long dinners together when we can take our time and not worry about having to pick up a child from training or a late law class.
It's a good time to have time as a couple, instead of just functioning as mom and dad.
A few weekends ago, we had one of those nights and we chose to try La Vita Ristorante Italiano, an newly opened Italian restaurant at Podium Mall. I wanted to try La Vita because I've seen friends post about their Burrata Pizza. Imagine a whole burrata ball on top of a pizza! Yum!
We visited on a Saturday, and the place was full of diners, mostly families, with a few couples out on a date, like us. I'm not surprised that its full, the chic and modern-looking restaurant offers good food that's reasonably priced. Their menu including some of my favorite Italian offerings like fresh pasta, wood-fired pizza, burrata and pulpo carpaccio.
That's our table on the foreground, the pizza just waiting to be eaten.
From where we were seated, we caught a glimpse of the Italian executive chef busy at work.
Authentic and quality Italian dishes because the chef is Italian!
We ordered 2 pizzas because pizzas are one of the specialties at La Vita. The pizza dough is made fresh every day, using a traditional recipe, and baked in a wood-fired pizza oven.
But also because, it's been so long since we've both had pizzas. The kids are gluten intolerant and we didn't want to push that limitation in their faces so we avoid serving /ordering food that they can't eat. But that night since it was just the 2 of us, we took advantage and had a gluten fiesta! Worth it!
Sharing with you photos of what we ordered:

We ordered the Pizza Quattro Formaggi with Chorizo, made with mozzarella, gorgonzola, cacio cavallo, and fresh parmesan cheese and we added chorizo slices to go with it.
Of course, we also ordered the pizza that made us go there in the first place - the Pizza con Burrata Fresca - the pizza bestseller with tomato sauce, arugula, and a whole ball of burrata cheese in the center.
Carpaccio di Pulpo (octopus) with Italian vinaigrette. So good!
Because #Rice is Life, Risotto de Milan for me. An authentic risotto with saffron and parmesan cheese. It could use some garnish before the kitchen sent it out, noh? Don't worry, it tasted better than it looks.
The Pappardelle del Papa is a fresh pappardelle pasta dish with saffron, shrimps and chili. I loved the texture of the fresh pasta, although I think it could have been plated better, with the shrimps sitting on top of the pasta and a few chopped parsley thrown in for a heightened visual appeal. But overall, it is worth a try.
