The “sakura” or cherry blossom is one of the most revered symbols in Japan. It symbolizes spring time, the season of the year that stands for the renewal of life. The bloom of the beautiful sakura, and its poetic meaning, is what drives thousands of tourists to Japan regularly.
For one, I miss the cool weather and the cherry blossom viewing. I also miss Japanese food.
For many people, tempura is almost synonymous to Japanese food, and that includes my husband. He even requested to dine in a tempura restaurant two days in a row when we were in Japan. That's how much he can't get enough of it.
It's a good thing we don't have to fly back to Tokyo as Japan's #1 Tempura Tendon is releasing special sakura-themed limited-edition sets for cherry blossom fans like me and for tempura fanatics like my husband!
A special take on their signature tempura donburi, the Sakura Tendon set showcases Tenya’s signature tempura donburi — Japanese rice topped with 2 Black Tiger Prawns, Itoyori fish (Seabream), Okiami (Krill) Kakiage, Nori and Green Beans, with Original Don Tare sauce poured over, and served with miso soup.
You can also enjoy a sakura feast with the Sakura Teishoku, a festive set that consists of a basket of 2 Black Tiger Prawns, Itoyori fish (Seabream), Okiami (krill) Kakiage, Nori and Green Beans with Cold Somen, Japanese rice and potato salad on the side.
To heighten the cherry blossom feeling for its diners and to make sure they feel like the are right in Japan, Tenya even partnered with Origami Philippines to create sakura-shaped lampshades.
Also, since it's Mother's Day weekend, get a chance to gift mom with not only a fabulous Tempura meal, but a cute and functional tote as well.
