Phenomenal Tip: DIY Light Switch Dress-Up with Washi Tape

There’s something about simple projects that makes me really happy! I have purchased several rolls of washi tapes the past month, and they've all just been sitting idly.  I intend to do some crafts with the kiddos using washi tape, but since we have not gotten around to agreeing on what to do yet, I just went on ahead and got crafty yesterday afternoon - by myself!  

Oh how fun it was to just have some time to do crafts by myself!  When it comes to crafting, I usually supervise the 2 younger kids, so I do not technically do crafts, instead I watch over them as they do the project.  This is one fun project to do when you're one crafty momma who doesn't have a lot of free time on your hands.

Doing this lightswitch dress-up with washi tape took me less than 5 minutes, from taking off the switch plate to finally putting it back up.  Really!  It is that easy.  The only materials you need are:  washi tape and scissors.

1.  Remove plates from the wall  using a metal spatula or scissors.

2.  Choose washi tape to match the theme of the room.  The girls' room is painted a combination of citron and aquamarine.  So I chose my teal colored washi tape for this project.

3.   Make sure to apply tapes in straight line.

4.  In addition, make sure the patterns are lined up against each other.

5.  Cut tape with scissors when you reach the ends and tuck it under the back of the plate.

 

6.  When you reach the corners, simply cut along the edge.

7.  Then tuck one part in.

8.  The other remaining part, you cut diagonally before you tuck in. 

9.  Makes for a clean finish!

10.  Put back plates.  Step back and admire your handiwork!

Frames Of Your Life

After several summers of art/painting lessons for the kids, I now have about several dozens of the kids' works waiting to be displayed on our walls.  Their artworks are gorgeous to my eyes, and I simply cannot wait to hang them. And still on the topic of putting artwork onto walls, I also have some beautiful photographs in my digital album that are begging to be framed.   Only hindrance is that I do not have any idea on how to go about it. 

How do I put up the artworks and photo frames onto my wall in a way that looks cohesive and put-together.  Here I am on a lazy Friday morning tagging like crazy at Pinterest.  Here are some of my favorites...

Barcelona Chair ... Sighting

I have not been to power Plant Mall for a few months, but I managed to scoot over last week for some pampering at The Spa-Rockwell.  I spent the afternoon with my Mom and a Tita who is vacationing from the States.

My heart skipped a beat as I saw this on the second level...
Sigh!!!
The chair goes for PHP39.895.00 and the ottoman comes at PHP23.895.

Barcelona Chair ... Dreaming

Since the start of the year, I have developed an ardent fascination with the Barcelona Chair.  I love its simple design and timeless beauty, and how it can instantly add a seamless layer of chic to a room.  I love how it made tufting look so quiet and modern.   

The Barcelona Chair was designed by acclaimed German architect Mies Van der Rohe for the German Pavilion at the Barcelona World’s Fair in 1928.   Can you believe this chair was designed over 80 years ago?  The design still looks incredibly modern.  And if one is not aware of the lineage and history of this chair, it would be easy to think of it as a recent creation.  While the original design was made in stainless steel with ivory leather, the Barcelona Chair now has many variations and has inspired countless other furniture designs.  

Personally I love them in white Italian full grain aniline leather. I would love for this modern classic to find a place in my living room.  I want it in pairs - with matching ottomans.  How glorious, di ba!

But since we live in Manila where air pollution is at a very notorious level, maybe black Italian full grain aniline leather would be a more reasonable option.  I think it would survive better.

 

I am saving up for my Barcelona.  In the meantime I find myself going to my digital album of Barcelona chairs.... patiently waiting...
