Draft Gastropub

The Phenomenal Papa finally got his way and the entire family ate lunch at Draft Gastropub several Sundays ago. He always wanted to try the draft beers at Draft, so when we found ourselves in Powerplant with no specific agenda, we all gave in to his request.  Draft is more popular to the night-time crowd; but at my age, I think I'm way past tolerating the smoke, the noise and the crowd.  So lunch time is the perfect time to visit for us since we just want to enjoy the beer and their food.

Draft serves premium quality European beers on ice cold draft, including C's personal favorites, Hoegaarden and Stella Artois, and many other smaller artisanal brews. The main reason why draft beer is preferred by most beer drinkers is that it retains most of the flavor that it had when it was brewed. Its flavor is less affected by the packaging process than canned or bottled beer.

But Draft Gastro Pub is not just about beer, for they serve good food as well.  The kids requested for the Mozzarella Nuggets for starters.  The crunchy and tasty breading gave a nice contrast to the smooth and slightly melted mozzarella inside.
cubes of mozzarella breaded and fried, served with marinara sauce
The Fish & Frites is crunchy on the outside and delicately soft on the inside. The kids loved it.
sole fillet in a crunchy Beck's beer batter. served with salad, fries, and tartare sauce.
The sausage platter is huge, but the kids did not like the fennel addition.  But their distaste was not too obvious as they finished up the plate.
Meatball Hero has two giant servings of meatballs on a slice of bread, smothered in marinara sauce.
The Angry Drunk Mussels is half a kilo of mussel steamed with Hoegaarden beer, bacon, chili, onion and fresh parsley.  It is kinda spicy, so not for the kids or anyone averse to spicy food.  C and I loved it so much, though, that we are already planning to come back just for it.  The sauce itself is so good that we ended up dunking our bread in it.  Yum!

Of course, all of these washed down with a glass of ice-cold Hoegaarden.
