Electrolux Do More with Less + Salmon Onigiri Recipe

One of the things I enjoy most about being a homemaker is that it gives me so many opportunities to be practical and resourceful when it comes to managing my home. I find happiness when I am able to look for a way to make the most out of our household budget or upcycle something that seems unusable at first glance. Not only am I able to save, but more important than that, I am able to model for my kids how it is like to be a good steward of our resources.

One of the areas of managing my home which needs a lot of thought and planning is the managing of food. Meal planning is important because without it I am often faced with forgotten leftovers, unused ingredients rotting away in the ref or products way past their expiration date in the pantry.

Electrolux knows Filipino moms are inventive, practical and resourceful especially when it comes to managing their homes. From transforming last night's leftover dish into a deliciously, mouthwatering meal to upcycling .... Moms truly know how to wisely maximize their resources at home. And after attending the Electrolux event wherein they encourage everyone to Do More With Less, you can be sure that I will be inspired to do leftover makeovers more often.

Do More With Less at home with Electrolux
{ Reduce Food Waste }

Electrolux is having a campaign to reduce food waste, empowering moms to be more creative and resourceful in the kitchen and at home, in general. It is part of their bigger campaign for a cleaner and healthier living, to Do More With Less.

Salmon Onigiri Recipe

One of my leftover makeover hits is the Salmon Onigiri. So much so that whenever I cook grilled salmon, sometimes, I intentionally make more than what we can finish to make sure that there are leftovers the next day to make onigiri with.

Salmon Onigiri

Salmon leftover,
3 cups leftover rice ( I used a blend of Jasmine, black, brown, red rice and quinoa)
2 tbsps sesame seeds
1-1/2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp mirin
1 tbsp sugar ( I use coco sugar, but feel free to use white sugar)
1tsp olive oil

1. Use a non-stick pan to heat up left over salmon and a little bit of olive oil. Break up salmon into tiny pieces.
2. Pour mirin, soy sauce, sugar and sesame seeds in the pan. Mix until well blended.
3. Add leftover rice, mix thoroughly.
4. While rice is warm, pack them into Onigiri shapers which you can buy in bento supplies store.
5. Top with more sesame seeds or "furikaki" (Japanese rice topping)

During the recent exclusive media launch of Electrolux's newest campaign, Electrolux showed moms how easy it is to do more with less when they have the right home appliances to help them out. We all know that with the right tools, we can always Do More With Less. Electrolux appliances can help us moms accomplish so many things at home so we can have more time for our family. Di ba, as moms, sometimes we feel we are doing all the chores so we have so little time for our family?

  1. We recently returned home to the Philippines after a decade of expat life abroad. I'm currently furnishing our kitchen and have been wondering if Electrolux can withstand years of use -- as i do love working and baking and getting messy in the kitchen. Now I think i do have an inkling. Thank you for sharing!

  3. I haven't tried Electrolux products yet but I am curious about it as I have heard so many good reviews about it. I might consider this on my next purchase (whenever that might be :D ). Good campaign they have, too. :D

  5. Leftovers! We usually put our leftovers in the ref and reheat it in the morning. I think it's time for me to learn how to reinvent leftovers. Thanks for this post!
