Wishful Thinking: A Mom's Errand Bag

School started this week for the girls.  I've always had mixed reactions to it; while I am happy to have some quiet around the house, I also dread the toxic after-school schedule of swim training and tutoring.

Which is why, I think ALL moms deserve to indulge themselves in a little treat BEFORE school actually starts.  After all, don't we buy our kids new sets of everything (school shoes, rubber shoes, uniforms, socks, pens, pencil cases, colored markers, bags, binders, folders... ang dami!) in the days leading up to school opening.

For myself, I'd like to REWARD myself in advance by getting a new everyday bag, to run errands in.

1.  Top pick is a roomy brown tote to carry all my mommy essentials.

The Prada Daino Tote Bag (us$1,450) is just love!  It is a versatile pick as the top handles is the right size to lug around on my arms; and the removable, adjustable shoulder strap is perfect for when I need both hands to help the kids.  It comes with a snap top, which is not so ideal for Manila moms, especially now that I have heard of so many moms being vicitimized by pickpockets in malls.

The Michale Kors Jet Set Top-Zip Saffiano Tote (us$248) is a perfect alternative, and not only because it costs an-arm-and-a-leg cheaper ha!  I prefer this because it has a top zip enclosure. Inside, there are also three pockets to organize the essentials.

2.  Studs are everywhere nowadays, and I have seen some on bags, too.

The Valentino Rockstud Medium Shopping Tote Bag shown in Navy (us$1,595) features pyramid studs framing the front and back of the bag, all in creamy napa leather.  I find bags made out of napa leather to be so irresistible because of its softness. Like the Prada tote, this one comes with a magnetic snap-top, too.

The Michael Kors Large Selma Studded Saffiano Tote (us$428) also features pyramid studs on the front and back.  The affordable price tag, zip enclosure and removable shoulder straps make for a perfect everyday bag.

3.  Sometimes, when there's too much neutral in what I am wearing, I'd like to play up the colors through my bag.

The Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Duo Hobo Bag, shown in Coral (us$4,580) offers a bohemian and yet clean look to any neutral outfit.  I love that the zip-top opening can fit snugly under the arm.

The Tory Burch Stacked Logo Hobo Bag, Poppy Red (us$465) is a cheery color that would brighten up not only my outfit, but the rest of my day!  The 8" drop in the shoulder strap is perfect for carrying around when I am running errands.

There, I now have all my choices laid out.  Now to get the Phenomenal Papa to read this...

How about you? What's your pick?
