Hi-Precision Diagnostics + Food Intolerance Test

A few days ago, my son participated in his first Palarong Pambansa-NCR games. It is his first regional meet; and of course, being the proud mama that I am, I wanted to see him off as the school bus carried him, his coach and his team mates to the venue.

But at the end of the 3-day meet, my body was already feeling the hectic sked of early morning food prep for the girls’ lunch baon, sending him off mid-day to the competition venuel, after-school pick-up for the girls and then dinner prep for the family at night. Yes, this mama is slowly realizing that I am not as invincible as I once thought…

As part of this slow realization that we are not invincible, C and I have started doing our annual blood test since a few years ago.  We've tried both going to the lab and having it done at home.  C and I both agree that home-service is the best way to do it because it saves us time since we don’t have to go to the clinic, get a number and wait for our turn. With the home-service, we simply schedule for the earliest slot and wait for the medical technician in the comfort of our home, in our pambahay. And as soon as she leaves, we can go right to eating breakfast like nothing happened.
The blood extraction for my Food Intolerance Test was quick and almost painless.
I think she was out the door in less than 10 minutes.

{Weekend Footnotes } Jam Foods Angus Salpicao + Cookies Unlimited + Marca Leon Healthy Oils

My family has been the recipient of a few yummy treats the past few weekends.  Such a blessing! Everyone in the family looks forward to the weekends because it means pigging out and eating out.

The kids don't get to eat desserts on weekdays because between swimming training and studying for school, there's really not much time to indulge their sweet tooth.  I avoid packing sweets into their lunch boxes because I am in the process of training their palate to eat fresh foods that do not require cooking. So recess usually means bananas, melons, apples or salad greens.

But weekends are different... it's the time when it's kinda free for all as far as food is concerned. I want to share with you some of our recent discoveries because they are all so good!!!

Japan Day 9: {Osaka} Doguyasuji: Osaka's Wholesale Kitchen Market

Click here to read ALL my JAPAN posts.

Sennichimae Doguyasuji is a street in Osaka which is dedicated to selling all kinds of kitchen utensils, tools and equipment.  If you are passionate about cooking, then this is not to be missed when you go to Osaka. When my sister pointed this street out to me, obviously I CANNOT leave Japan without visiting it. It's just a few minutes walk from Fraser Residences in Namba, and is on the way to Kuromon Ichiba.

How To Cook a Romantic Valentine's Day Dinner + A Recipe for Seared Scallops

Valentine's Day is coming up! Which one of you does the planning?  In our case, it is usually C who does the dinner reservation. When we started dating two decades ago, he would pull out all the stops to make Valentine's super romantic and memorable. That includes the biggest bouquet of Ecuadorean roses greeting me on my office desk first thing in the morning, then a nice and thoughtful gift he personally hands over when he picks up from the office, ending with a romantic dinner.

MUZIP Zipper Earphones: Product Review + A GIVEAWAY

On weekends, when everyone takes a break from studying, the kids usually gather in our room after dinner. Because they sleep in their own room, staying together in one room is a weekend treat for everyone. Most often, we will call it a "movie night" and watch a movie in our room, sometimes with pizza and popcorn. But there are also times when everyone would just be together in the room doing their own thing. This usually ends up with argument at some point because one likes to watch a movie, one likes to listen to her playlist, and still the other one likes to play a game on the iPad.  You can just imagine the noise competition going on!
